Internship description:

During this internship the student will contribute to the commissioning of the ThomX accelerator in Orsay. S/he will join the team of physicists who are in charge of commissioning the accelerator. S/he will be in charge of specific instruments and measures on the accelerator. S/he will more specifically be in charge of some optical measurement systems and to test a new emittance measurement technique using optical measurements of the beam as well as starting a new Cerenkov measurement line. S/he will also be in charge of comparing the observed beam properties with the predictions.
For a good candidate this internship could be extended into a PhD thesis covering both the startup of the ThomX accelerator, beam instrumentation and the applications of additive manufacturing to particle accelerators.

The location of work will be the Irène Joliot-Curie Laboratory in Orsay near Paris in the accelerator department. This internship can start any time after March 1st and has to finish on July 24th at the latest.

Students interested in continuing in PhD will have to submit an application during spring (dates to be confirmed) and may be invited for an interview.
