During this internship we will look at instruments for particle accelerators built using additive manufacturing, the aim being to qualify them for the specific needs of particle accelerators (ultra high vacuum, conductivity, radiofrequency,…). Some prototypes will be built and tested. Depending on the results some simulations codes may be used to understand the results and improve the components. More specifically copper prototypes have been built and will be tested during the internship. A beam position monitor already installed on an accelerator and made by additive manufacturing will be tested during the internship. The location of work will be the Irène Joliot-Curie Laboratory in Orsay near Paris in the accelerator department. This internship can start any time after March 1st and has to finish on July 24th at the latest. Students interested in continuing in PhD will have to submit an application during spring (dates to be confirmed) and may be invited for an interview.
