The studentship aims to study the motile movement of a flagellate microalgae, Chlamydomonas reinhardtii at a macro scale of a photo-bioreactor of up to 1 l volume. This work has already been considerably progressed by a post-doctoral researcher and the first part of the internship will involve mastering the existing experimental and analytical protocols. The internship will involve culturing microalgae and studying culture behaviour by using advanced imaging and image analysis techniques. The ideal candidate would be interested in microbiology as well as image analysis and programming. The ideal profile would be that of an engineering or a Master’s student. With the advanced state of the research, the possibility of a scientific publication after the internship is realistic. with a bursary of approximately €600 per month.
